John Bond provides project and interim financial and operational leadership to clients committed to building and sustaining enterprise value. He has repeatedly demonstrated the ability to envision, develop, fund and financially manage business operations requiring top line growth and solid bottom-line performance. John’s training and job experiences ensure his ability to understand the basics, work the details and define the processes necessary to achieve successful attainment of clearly measurable objectives. He has consistently demonstrated his ability to build, develop and retain high-performing functional teams. He has significant international experience which has given him a truly global view of business culture and work practices.
Prior to his consulting career, John spent nearly 30 years serving various finance and operations roles in a number of life science companies. He served as CFO for Cytokine PharmaSciences and Biotechnology General Inc. (now Savient Pharmaceuticals. At Cytokine, he gained significant experience in preparing and taking to market a business seeking equity investment as well as senior and subordinated debt funding. In addition to his financial responsibilities John, acted as Managing Director for the company’s manufacturing and R&D subsidiary in Scotland. He also held numerous senior level finance positions with Rhone-Poulenc Rorer and Eli Lilly.
In his final position with Rhone-Poulenc Rorer, John was appointed CFO of Centeon the $1 billion joint venture between Rhone-Poulenc and Hoechst engaged in the manufacturing, research and development and sales of therapeutic plasma proteins. This business was in significant operating difficulties and John again demonstrated his leadership skills by restoring financial credibility by delivering against commitments on profits and cash flow. In addition the worldwide Information technology team under his control was re-built with quality personnel to provide a true business partnership. The worldwide single instance SAP implementation project under his control was delivered on time, on budget and within scope.
John started his career with Deloitte, Haskins and Sells in Edinburgh training in accounting, auditing and tax. During this time he qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland. John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Finance from the Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh.
